Super Jet Inquiring for new starter and solenoid 1990 SJ650 all stock

Inquiring for new starter and solenoid 1990 SJ650 all stock

Where to buy?

Sick of junk parts manufactured in China that break after minimum use. Wheat should I purchase and from where? No eBay please, unless that's my only alternative.

I am a noob to SuperJets. Picked up this gem on Craigslist.

Long story short: Took out the SJ for maiden voyage, ran great for an hour, shut the ski off to slug back a brew, then she wouldn't start back up, just a click sound from the solenoid. Discovered the battery (from 2006 lol) was melted at both terminals? Tested the starter at a shop and it doesn't have enough juice to turn over the engine, just nothing. Hooked up a new battery and same thing, the ground wire would spark. I think the starter is toast, probably the reason why the negative terminal on battery melted.

Is my solenoid bad?

Should I replace both starter and solenoid?

and HOW? What would you do SuperJet professionals? Thank you for any help or suggestions. SJ650 3.jpgSJ650 2.jpgSJ650 1.jpg

have to pull the front flywheel cover off. remove fuel tank then the cover. bendix is right there. make sure its not seized up and engages fully and smoothly. easy to do and might save you some $$

FYI...kawi and yami starters are the same from the 650 engine up to the kawi 1100s. The only difference is the front cover that bolts up to the block. May help you find one a little cheaper rather than looking for something yami specific.
