im trying to get some last things together for my build and im unsure of what tools i need to change the impeller on my 04 sj. i know i need the spline tool. but does the oem impeller have a hex head or do i need a tool for it? also ill be installing a skat mag swirl back in it and im sure ill need a tool for that one.... do all skats use the same tool for yamaha?

this may seem like stupid question's but im doing all this from 9k miles away from a ski i havnt seen in person.... to top it off i only have 10 days to get it all back together! so i have to make sure i have everything i need!!!

thanks guys

Spline tool for the drive shaft, No special tool for the stock impeller, pipe wrench or a large box wrench will work.
Can't remember the wrench size, it's the one with the red paint hanging on the wall at the shop!!...maybe 1 1/8 or 1 3/16?
Yes, all the smaller Yamaha Skat impellers use the same Skat hex tool, not the larger hex tool for the 155 mm pumps.

so the 144mm skat mag props will work in the stock pump

yes the big hub MAG props will work (depends on your motor setup too). I run a TBM pump stuffer with mine, some will say you do not have to.

oh ok gotcha, wonder if a mag pump would work ok in a limited setup engine with b pipe and ada girdled head, carbontech reeds running 180 psi compression

it should, just depends on your impeller choice.

my mag pump is going in a ported, ada, b pipe, modded stock carbs and epic ignition. there is a few other goodies but thats the gist of it. also its going to be a surf ski so i am looking for the better hook up rather than top end...
