Impeller, pump, stator, nozzle

Hello,

I am new to the modding standups and just want to make sense of the terminology and what they do.

Impeller
  • Sucks and pushes the water through the tunnel.
  • The higher the pitch, the more top end speed you will have but you will have a slower hole shot?
  • The impeller also pushes water into a tube that feeds the motor and than the exhaust with water to cool them?
  • Jetskis do not have a pump other than the impeller to cool the components?
  • The impeller also pushes water through a second tube to create a siphon for a bilge? This pipe can be modified to create a dual cooling system instead of siphoning water?
Stator
  • Surrounds the impeller.
  • There is a wear ring, this wear ring is part of the stator or is a piece that can be pressed in and out of the stator?
  • Stator needs to be within a certain tolerance to make sure the impeller is pulling and pushing efficiently
  • You can install a larger stator and impeller, this will allow the ski to push and pull more water? But you need to make enough power to be able to increase the diameter of the stator and impeller? Will this help hole shot or top end speed? Or does that depend on the size of the nozzle in relation to the impeller and stator?
Pump
  • Reverses the water exiting the impeller, allowing the ski to go forward instead of trying to go to one side the whole time?
  • You can change out your pump for a unit with more vanes? Does this allow water flow better through the pump? Or if you build a big enough motor the original pump is not good enough for keeping the ski straight?
Cone
  • No clue what it does
  • The shorter it is the better for freestyle? Do not know why
Nozzle
  • Narrows the diameter of the water tunnel to allow the water to come out with more force? And allows the jetski to turn and you can adjust it for trim.
  • If you bore the nozzle, you will have more holeshot but less top end speed?
  • There is also vertical bar in the nozzle that also helps the ski go straight??
For SN and RN, all these parts are the same size and are interchangeable?

Seams as though you have a rough idea on most of it, although I think you have the stator and wear ring confused, the impeller spins inside the wear ring. The stator is the portion if the pump that has the vanes and houses the bearings.

As for size of pump, size if cone, size of nozzles.... All this allows you to tune a pump and engine combo, there is no one correct setup, sometimes it takes changing things in a systematic way to find the correct combo
