I'm a new and I need a little help

hi guys, nice to meet you all! I'm new to this sport. all my life i'v wanted one of these stand up jet skis and I finally picked one up. its a 1985 js440 but it has a bad crank bearing, I was hoping you guys could help me out. I am wondering what is involved in swapping the newer js550 or 650 in place of the old motor because I saw one on ebay for cheap. any ideas or advice?

Man, if you're going to install another engine, I'd go with a 650. It requires a bedplate adapter, and some other small things.

Anyone I've ever read about that has done it has loved it

The 650 will be worth the trouble much more reliable than the 550.Better yet go ahead and put a 750 in it:headbang:I built a 550 / 650 conversion years ago it was a fun ski ,mariner pipe ,ported cylinder , cases , 46 sbn ,dales ignition it ran great .Its still around and getting ready to be parted out .

The 650 and small pin 750 motors are the same size i believe. You will need a conversion bed plate i think.I would go with 650 electrics.

and welcome to the best sport ever!:Banane01::Banane01::Banane01::Banane01:

do any of you guys have a 650 or 750 engine near saskatoon saskatchewan, or even something they would be able to ship. it would be nice if it needed to be rebuilt because then I can get it cheeper and if I rebuild it then I know what I got im also open to any other engine swaps, I have a 2007 yamaha phazer in my shop, just from looking at it the engine looks like it would fit right in there and thats got 83hp and a 12,500rpm redline with an internal 2:1 reduction on the out put shaft (maybe a little heavier though)
