Protec would be my choice. I bought a used cracked one, had it rewelded and used it for a year, then resold it. They make great power IMO.

I love my Protec. Have not had any problems with it cracking. If I do I will just reweld it and use it till it breaks again.

ive run both in the past and i think the riva red makes more power, but it sure is heavy. not a problem if you use a griddled head.
i ran the riva on my boat for over 10 yrs without a 'griddled' head & never had a problem....great running pipe:arms:

Pro-tec, ive ran one quite a bit, makes good power, and not a single problem when installed right.

QUOTE=demolition_x]riva red pipe or protec mach pipe?

i know the protecs have been notorious for having the castings break but is that a big problem if they are installed right.

b pipe is not an option right now.[/QUOTE]

Hey Demo, I'm located in South Jersery near Cherry Hill. I have a riva red pipe on my SJ. You're more than welcome to come ride it if you'd like. I can't say enough good things about the pipe. I love mine! Let me know.

it was also probably the fact that my cylinders were ported that contributed to the cracking of the cylinder casting.
