Or does it need to have some sort of different tuning? I'd guess it would run rich with less O2 present, but I's no tuner.

youll probably have to lean your mixture out a little - maybe 1/4 turn on the lows?

going brokebacking again?

actually loading up a U haul and taking some stuff to a friend of my GF. Her friend moved out there to be a ski bum and we're taking her stuff out there to her.

Is it okay with you if I take my skis?

sure you could. couches fit in uhauls, sargeant not so mcobvious.

that is, unless youre going for the cheapass budget uhaul.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

If I was going to put the couches in the Uhaul where would I put the stuff I'm taking to CO for her? The bed of my truck?

Now's probably a good time to step away for a bit and take a deep breath.

And yes, you will be running rich.
Since you're going from sealevel to 10000 ft elevation, the difference may be substantial - but I don't know for sure how much.

thats up to you to figure out. i would leave the couches behind and bring a standup.... but if you insist on riding couches, youll just have to find a way.

To answer your question... your ski or couch or whatever will run like ********! Unless you have an interchangeable dome head w/ an extra set of domes approx. 4cc's smaller than what you run at sea level. Also helps to run an impeller with one pitch lower than you run at sea level. Even then, with the compression back up and the prop pitched down you will still lose considerable horsepower. Carb tuning will only fine tune the last bit of power out of the ski, but it wont make up for the lack of oxygen (& compression)

well I was planning on just throwing the standups in the back of the truck and bumper pulling a U-haul. If that's okay I'll try it.

Sorry Mr. E I was just messin with sfl. It's actually only going to a little bit over 5k in elevation. You dont hit 10k until you get to summitt county which is 70 miles past denver, by keystone, breck, and all those places.

May not be that bad then. Last year, I went from 300ft to 2500 ft, and the difference was noticable, but not that bad. No carb tuning required. Well...I take that back.
It probably was required, but I didn't know enough to recognize it.

a friend of mine from here (sea level) just took his stock 90 SJ to NC and he said it ran like ass at 3000ft (i think it was 3000). he said he leaned the low end a tad and it was fine.

how far are you from Denver? It's a 2200 mile roundtrip for me, so a 2-3mpg difference in fuel economy from putting 2 sj's in the back could be significant...

Now if there's someone with a PV lamey up there... I'd for sure be there with skis in tow

 Arent bottom feeders like you at around -500 ft elevation?

okay okay I was just kidding. Thanks for the heads up your buddy's ski didnt work out at that elevation. I suspect mine will run differently at elevation as well.

I'm 100 miles south of Denver... @ 4700ft elevation, and I have a PV Lamey :cool2: At this elevation it runs like a big bore flat-top 61x cylinder does at sea-level. Ok, well a little better than that!
