Super Jet Idle mix screws ~ '07

Location
Texas
From day one (bought used 2 years ago) my stock engine '07 SJ has needed some throttle to start even when warm. Once started, it idles, accelarates and runs great. I want to try richening up the idle mix to see if that will help. This is my first Yamaha and I haven't looked yet but I want to make sure I know which screws are the idle mix. Are they marked? For that matter, does it even have high speed mix screws? Would someone post a pic (maybe from the manual) of the location please. Do they come with the EPA plugs over the screws? Sorry for the rookie questions but I just want to go in with at least a little knowledge before turning screws.

There is an idle speed t handle you can adjust right on the front where throttle cable attaches. The low and low mixture screws are sealed off under brass plugs which are then painted over. This started in 2004 on superjets for anti-tamper EPA reg garbage. You need to drill out caps and replace the mixture screws with much longer handle screws to adjust carbs otherwise. We have them if needed.

I have no problem drilling and pulling the plugs, I've done it on LOTS of motorcycles. Are they accessable without having to remove the carbs? And from what you are saying, the factory screws are not reachable even with a tiny screwdriver?

You will need to remove the carbs to drill out all the holes. You can adjust them with a screw driver but its a pina...I have 06 carbs on my sj.

You need to remove the carbs to do the job. Once caps are dilled/removed you can reach with a screwdriver but the head is hard to turn and impossible to see what you are doing on most of them when reinstalled.
