1) What reeds are on the cages now?

2) Is all the cracking on the cages a bad thing! (do they tend to break?)

3) Any one run these stuffers? Any good/bad

4) What type of reeds are the yellow and white ones.

5) Where can I get 3 more studs for that R&D Manifold.... (this isnt the type thats gonna give me trouble is it????)

THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!

So long and thanks for all the fish

The yellow/white are probably Boyesen regular 2-stage reeds.

The carbon are possibly Carbon Tech.

The cages don't look so hot, never seen those before.

The R&D manifold is the narrow spacing one, the nuts are harder to access than a normal manifold.

#1. 701 stock reed cages w/ light tension Carbon Tech's (super stock)
#2. Yes they do weather crack over time, most of the time no problems, take off reed petals and look closer at the sealing surface if no damage your fine.
#3. Stuffers are fine, R&D's
#4. Boyesen dual stage
#5. A good hardware store or order them on-line from a supplier (8mm X 1.25 studs) No problems with the manifold I have always liked them and now they're discontinued from R&D, can only get the Dominator now, bad thing is now they need machining on the carb surface to correct the angle so you can run stock 61X air boxes.

Thanks guys you ans all my questions....

Supertune, regarding #5 are you saying this manifold is the type that needs customization to fit oem filters.... i was gonna go with proks or oems....

I also see a lot of guys running "spacers" I dont know what they do havent looked in to em yet.... would that help em fit....

I have been informed that with the R&D intake, you should run spacers. But that may be just with aftermarket reed cages.

A Reed spacer helps with flow to the transfer ports and moves the cage back away from the windage of the spinning crankshaft and aids in reed life. You should epoxy up the cases to gain back what you lose when adding the reed spacer, not so critical for top end... but freestyle/freeride motors like higher crankcase compression ratio's.
I said that the new R & D Dominator manifolds are a problem with the carb angle NOT this one... Call Patrick at xmetalworks.com (727)449-9353 for carbs spacers to fit the 61x airboxes. (make sure you tell him 44mm or 46mm carbs.)
