Very cool.:hail:At work, they have me try to destroy substation equipment with high energy surge equipment.
:haha:
Although I don't like the underpowered 650sx, I will admit I have one that died 12 years ago in the river. The concept I am toying with is to completely mod out the hull out to include:
Remove external fill and cover
lower pole mount approx 4 inches
change pole type and style
set pole flush with lowered hood
hull reinforcement
dual one way valves
extended chines ( similar to SXR)
footholds
hull extensions (removable)
lighten hull where possible
X2 trim nozzle
Tubbie 2's
The final toutch would be installing the 750 small pin motor and Bpipe, or perhaps a dry pipe. This would be the next winter project just to see what I could make of the old girl. Very little money out of pocket as I already have most of the stuff.
Still looking for an SJ.
It needs to look cooler than a square, handle like an SXR, and have big punch as well, with all the other bells and whistles.Even though the ski is old school and all, I like the fact that somebody wants to try something different. Even though superjets are awesome skis, everybody is the same (me included so no one get offended): scupper, b-pipe, re-enforcement, hood etc. It would be cool to see something different even if it is a 650sx, hope you follow through with it.
I think the Captin might have had something to do with that:sneaky:
Perhaps...:seaky:
I just did the tx ports i the 650. Looks nice.
I'll try to save whats left of this thread...
Like Matt said at the beginning, You can polish a turd, but it's still a turd. If you are building it to ride as your primary ski then do it. I have a lot of time and $$ in my FX1. I could sell it and get a super, but I have it set up exactly how I want it. To me its worth more than money, it would take a lot more time and $$ to build another ski to where I like it. It's functional for me and thats all that matters. If you want to built that 650 custom, do it! Don't expect any return in $$. Your return will be in pride and workmanship.
I wouldn't be doing it to sell, this thing has been sitting in my yard for 12 years and I am amazed it runs again. I just tabbed it yesterday so I can thrash it in the river this sunday, we will be doing massive mud sliding. (Daylight and NWDayton know what I'm talking about) It would make a great surf boat that actually keeps running. I'm not out anything but some glass supplies and a lot of sanding.:banghead:I would also ask how much do you really think that you'll ride this thing? Especially if you get the SJ. Between the X2 and the future SJ. It could be a lot of work for not a lot of pay off.
Just for sheets and giggles. I still want an SJ, but I kinda liked fooling with the glass. ITs still for sale, but if I don't sell it, out comes the cut wheel.
I had thought about it 2 weeks ago, long before I came up with my new brain fart.Hey, why not think about buying my SJ hull... its perfect for someone with glass skills: http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/16762
