I wanna hit some surf in SC but where?

I wanna hit some surf in South Carolina.

I was drivin around Hilton Head yesterday and was actually denied admittance to some parts of the Island just for having my ski in the back of the truck. I figure this is a bad sign. One guy told me I could ride but I'd be fined if I pulled up on the beach anywhere on the island period!

I know guys ride surf around Charleston area so give me a holler and we can hook up. I gotta break my cherry sometime and it's getting late in the season.

I'm living up in Barnwell so I gots to drive no matter where, but I'd like to find somewhere within a couple of hours anyway. I'd do Myrtle Beach too, just not every weekend.

Yeah I doubt they would let you in Hilton Head, it's a pretty uppity area full of snobs and the like. I'm pretty sure you can in parts of Charleston. I'm not sure tho as I've only been there a few times and that wasn't to hit the surf.

This would be good to know for me too. I have a house in CHS and would bring my ski down there to get some surf experience.

I have seen a few rental ski's out in the surf off of Folly Beach. But I know there is also a wildlife preserve down the end of the island so I'm not sure.

murrells inlet, little river, and most places in georgetown or charleston. hardley anywhere populated with people will let you come in to the beach though. only places i know of are tillman point, and bird island both accessed from little river.

HHI area is mostly pricks.
You can drive south to Tybee Island, GA. We will wither be riding Tybee this weekend or maybe head south to Jacksonville.

I'm new to surf so 3-5 feet will be good to get my feet wet. There were pretty consistent swells at Folly Field yesterday i would have been more than happy with.

if you were drivin around Hilton head where are you from. i live in beaufort sc and me and one other guy there ride stand ups. i have a round nose and he has a 750sx i am deployed right now to yuma arizona but i will be back around the end of oct. i bought a 5mm wetsuit so i will be ready to ride all winter long. hit me up if you want to ride.

Where do you guys ride around Tybee Island or Beaufort? I'm in middle Georgia and have been looking into both of those places as an intro into the surf scene.

That's crazy. I may be in Beaufort at the end of october, My mom has a house right behind the MCAS air station on the Inter coastal. I'll be there for a week or so. I'll definitely post on here when I go.

I live in Little River, SC, and we have an inlet not too far away which has good surf sometimes. It's always better than nothing.

You have to stay 1000ft away from the main front beach side, but it's only a short ride out to the break. There's a big sandbar between Tybee & Little Tybee where the waves break.
Check out 'alley 3 Tybee Island, GA' on google maps. That's the sand launch ramp & parking spot. Usually alot of kayakers launch there to ride the creeks.

sounds cool. I'm heading back to Canada early October to get my other skis and all my gear. Back home I ride until the ice stops me so water temp is not going to stop me. One of the biggest draws for me to move here was the oportunity for surf.

I just bought a mint 96 Roundie a few weeks ago and am getting it dressed out pretty good. Can't wait to try it out in some surf.

Anyone up to riding this weekend?

If ou drive all the way up here from where you are, I will ride this weekend. Otherwise I am just going to do crap to my ski to get it ready for Wavedaze next weekend (You should go)

I've been thinking about wavedaze but I have a work conflict, besides I hate crowds when i try something new. It's on my list for next year though, same as every other riding event within a 10 hr drive from here.

Kennay, you wanna ride in Little River this weekend? It's a 4 hr drive for me.

Not only will I ride, but I can get a few more people to ride as well. If you don't end up being a douche (Just in case :Banane35: ) You can crash at place if you don't feel like driving all the way home after we ride. I will have to talk to everybody to see if Saturday or Sunday would be best.

I have a pontoon that I can throw the ski's on and ride out to the inlet and unload em to save on gas and having to ride 15-20 minutes to get to the inlet. :biggthumpup:

Sweet, If your gonna ride saturday I can drive up Friday night after work and grab a hotel room. Hey I don't think I'm a douche but everything's relative right? I'm 34 so my roudy years are behind me, now I just live to ride.

I got a bigfoot cart too, is it worth packing down? I just throw my ski in the back of my truck.

i get back from arizona on 31 oct so i will be in beaufort if anybody wants to come up and ride i will be back so hit me up and we can make plans. from what i hear there is good surf out on hunting island which is very close to beaufort. we always ride at the sands in downtown port royal. it's always flat but there is a channel where huge boats cross and they always throw huge wakes. the cops come watch us sometimes and don't care that we pull up on the beach or ride close to the beach.
