I just picked up a good used 701 Hotrods crank for $300.

I always thought Hot Rods Cranks were a better than OEM choice but only recently was told that they are made overseas and can be questionable. I have purchased them for my seadoo, old square 701 and now for my new build. I have never had to replace one yet.

Does SBT use OEM cranks or do they rebuild in house? If they are OEM it may explain the cost difference.

If you want more power then now is the time. There are ported 61X top ends coming up on ebay and here quite frequently now. I picked up a nice ported 62T 760 top end for $500 including pistons. Watch ebay for deals and just see what you can pick up.

well the crank is seized up now so their goes that idea. do you think my fly wheel will be ok

If your going to spend the time and $ to rebuild this thing, then why scrimp on possibly using a defective part? I would replace it. If it shells out, you lost all that you put into this motor.

no worth the risk especially considering the money u r about to invest. buy a new flywheel. or better yet find a really good used one for cheaper...

the flywheel will be fine
if you take the cylinders and get them sandblasted they will be fine as well
you can get them to sandblast down the ports and this will clean all the rust out
of course you have to make sure that all the sand is out and you willhave to chase the threads in the cylinder

then your going to have to bore it and i would also look at getting the cylinder skimmed very so lightly
then the cylinder will be fine

As far as a crank i would run a hotrods
