I started a new business venture

I have a long storied background in woodworking - cabinet making , I have been doing it since high school , I also have a complete cabinet shop at my house , it just sits there most of the time doing nothing.

I also have the property up by Lake Martin , on the first Saturday of every month they have a huge flea market right down the road from me called Santuck , years ago I had a booth there and I made and sold handmade wooden items , it did ok but of course you have to rent a booth, set it up, man it etc etc.

Since I have all the woodworking tools already I decided to open up a small shop inside of my shop, at first just on Santuck Saturdays and give it a whirl ,.

I have been following Matthew Peech on Youtube , he has a series called make money woodworking , he builds a lot of different stuff , mostly flower planters , most of his stuff is built using fence pickets which are about $2.00 each.

The small ones go really quick , and are made from scrap , lumber cost is zero and labor cost is minimal , that first planter takes a minute to make but it is rock solid and made from Cypress , everything is made from either Cypress or pressure treated wood , its not going anywhere anytime soon..

A little bit of stain really brought this to life, I am keeping this one .

I made these two planters yesterday to hang off of the ramp , they just hang from the ramp with metal clips , I will probably make three more , there are squash planted in them right now but later there will be flowers in them. I also made the planter in the second two photos , it's more of a rustic farmhouse style with rusted tin inserts.

I am going to check with the local Polaris dealer , I know from working at dealerships a lot of the crates are wood and they throw it away, when I worked at the Kawi dealer I made tons of stuff out of free crate wood , it would work well for any of these planters .
