I think it could have something to do with trying to turf in the 105 degree weather we had today? yup...do it in your garage

ok.. I AM using the stuff in the RED can. as for coats... I was only doing 2. and posibly it wasnt drying long enough. I'll try again. I did eventually get the tray done. it the rails I'm having issues with at the moment.

to the guy that mentioned cleaning BEFORE sanding...

it's fresh paint. there should be NOTHING on it.

thanx for the help guys.

Wolf Child, I looked throught the thread and perceived that you may not be sanding the surface of the turf with 36 or 60 grit. I think that is whatthe previous poster was possibly referring to regarding driving cvontaminats into it. Both the painted/glass surface as well as the turf need to be sanded and cleaned. I learned this from Charlie (sflsurfrider). Hope this helps.

nope, both done. I used #60 grit. It may have been a high temp/humidity issue. I'm gonna try again today weather permitting.

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
In the high humidity it will take longer for the glue to dry .
Avoid putting on more than 1 coat on the ski itself, it is non porous and only 1 coat is required .thick layers of glue make it worse and won't hold as good .Real thin layers are best on porous and a little thicker on non porous
2 or 3 coats would be good for the turf and don't let the glue dry completely between coats, just like glassing let it dry most of the way and re apply another coat and then on the last coat let dry all the way until you touch it with your finger and nothing feels sticky .

I didnt use clothes pins or a heat gun and did it in the middle of winter and my turf went on and is still brand new looking like the day I put it on .

i always do 2 coats on the ski and 3 on the turf. ive never had anything come off.

its just that it takes longer to dry...... about as long as 3 coats on the turf.
