I got tired of working and decided to install my Wamilton's footholds finally

Well, I finally managed to get the new motor and everything installed in this new 07 hull and running good. It's not a ton of fun riding on the super slick stock turf and without footholds though.... so I decided to get busy with it. I don't usually take pictures until stuff is done, but I decided to take some throughout the process of doing this if anyone is interested in looking. :splatt:

The stock turf and arm rails are removed:

A little bit of sanding done:

First tracing of foothold pattern:

Freehanding the inside cutout:

First foothold pattern cut out:

Another shot of the first cutout and the interior foam:

The foam got scooped out with a chisel:

Test fit of the first foothold:

Measured things up and traced the first cutout onto the other side:

Foam removed from both holes and both sides test fitted:

First foothold riveted in. Epoxy was also used to mate the surfaces:

Another shot:

Both footholds epoxied and riveted in:

Holes drilled with hole saw to fill fresh voids with foam:

Another shot of a hole. I had to dig a bit to get to the void:

Both sides filled with US Composites foam.

Everything sanded down ready for some fiberglass:

Footholds and arm rest areas (foam holes) fiberglassed

A little bit more fiberglass in the tray and into the footholds.

I just need to sand it down and turf it now.

I went ahead and started putting my underlayment down. I went with 3/8 HT underlayment where you rest your elbows on the ski when getting on. I also put a layer of 3/8 down in the tray and then put another layer of 3/8 on top of that cutting out where my feet will go in the holds. I might put some turf in tonight. I decided to go with the 3/8 under my foot and I am going to use some 3/8 underlayment on the inner topside of the foothold also. This in conjunction with the turf will be a snug fit for my feet.

While I agree that it is stronger than the chop it's really not necassary in this instance .
Looks like nice clean work .

The chop was real convenient for me to get quick. On my last foothold install, I just tied the footholds together. I didn't even do the whole tray. I had enough glass left this time that I thought what the heck....I'll do the whole tray and make it a tad stronger.
I got my underlayment on the upper sides of my footholds done. I need a finer grit sandpaper to hit it with.

Thanks for the compliments guys. :bigok:

nice work Steve looks like you've been busy not keep going before It gets cold

Is all Steve needed was to pull the trigger on that beast of a motor you built for him for the first time. Now he is hooked!!! I figure he will be buying a drysuit within a month so he can ride all winter long. LOL

BTW-Brian-do you use Wiseco Kawi flat top pistons or the Riva/R&D Dominator pistons for the stroker motors you build???
