How long have you been looking? Unfortunately now is probably the worst time to look for one with summer just around the corner. Just keep an eye out and something will pop up sooner or later. Also pay attention to what you do see 4 sale and what they get 4 it, it'll help let you know what value is when you do find one.
I ended up looking all last summer and finally finding one in late Oct. Found a 96 SJ on Egay with mild porting, footholds, B-pipe, shaved head, single 44 for $1750. It was a little neglected, needs paint & the turf job looks like a 4yr old did it but nothing that would've steered me away.
PS- I'll have a 650sx for sale within the next week or so if you're interested.
