I am not Happy-SOB

I don't understand what your saying? Where is the ground? I thought that I was supposed to bridge something and then press starting to test solonoid? Also, what wires do you want me to connect? As far as I know they all are connected .....Also, the box has probably never been opened...I know the head bolts have been untouched....

ground is the metal part of the box. just make sure the connections on the relay are not hitting it. no big thing

if the s/s, and battery wires are connected and youre not gettting a click when you hit start (the lanyard is in right?), disconnect the black/white (stop) connector then try start.

if that doesnt work. disconnect the brown/red (start) connector and bridge it with a paperclip or screwdriver.

if the relay still doesnt click, take an old screwdriver and lay it across the 2 big points on the relay. the ones with the 2 thick red wires going to it... just use the screwdriver to bridge them together. it will spark a lot, but dont be a ninny and get scared. this is mans work!

:haha: :haha:

Might want to reconnect the black white stop switch wires, in case it starts up. He might blow a gasket if it wont shutdown:biggrin:

Ok, I could not find the ground you are talking about in the box...or I saw it and I just don't realize it....I am going to go ahead and bridge the relay, To do this I bridge the connections, and press start right? OR just bridge and something should happen?

hopefully, he still has his sparkplug caps off he plugs and grounded to the head.

BETTER STILL... take the plugs out, put them in their boots and lay them on the head.

good call, keefer.

The grounds are probably fine, they are all the black wires that are connected to a screw on the body of the E box. I would be more concerned with the ground wire from the battery to the starter bolt. If it cranks then it is the solenoid AKA "starter relay" gone bad. You do not have to press the start button, it should crank when you bridge the connections. If not then read my earlier post. Good luck.

Ok. I bridged the relay, and pressed start. I got nothing at all...Not even sparks....So far I have two screws in the bottem of my hull....********

What now?

Wanted to remind that the symptoms, at the lake were popping and buzzing...I keep hitting starter more....and then I got nothing...

all i was saying about the ground is make sure that the relay posts arent resting on it.

kane, like keefer said, its the pile of black wires on the metal half of the box AND THE BOX ITSELF.

For the hell of it I bridged the start/stop switch, at the connecter and had a few small sparks...I am almost sure the battery is good.

Would it be bad to put a charger on the battery, then try bridging the relay again? If I have this straight, since I got nothing, its either the starter, or the battery right?

Yep, always ground the plug wires if spinning the starter with plugs out, that spark energy has to go somewhere. I would leave the plugs in so that it will load the starter when cranking to verify that it is good.

either your battery is dead or your main ground is loose or isnt connected.

assuming youre batt is good, check the main negative wire from the battery. it usually attaches toward the rear of the starter. its probably loose.

you can just run a new ground from the negative terminal on the battery to one of the accessible bolts on the engine like one of the flywheel cover bolts.
