What are your thoughts on the 3m self-adhesive option for hydroturf? How does it compare to contact cement? I might be returfing my tray and possibly rails.
Thanks,mark

I helped a friend of mine do a Blaster II using the self adhesive backing. It turned out really good in this application, but I wouldn't do it on a standup for fear that it wouldn't hold up to the abuse that they get put thru. I'm planning on using the self-adhesive on my family "project" ski---but it's more like a boat.

beachjunkey,

ask Yamaslut and the others who are using the thick pading with the self adhesive. They are truly the benchmark and will set the length of durability.

Use DAP Weldwood or the HT canned glue (its the same as the DAP WW). I've heard the "peel-n-stick" HT (3m) doesn't stick as good, especially on contoured areas such as tray rails, etc.

The underlay is a different story, as the glued turf on top would hold it in place. I would not do the entire tray and rails with sticky tape or with hard riding you will be doing it again.
