Hydro turfing sides

Gil keeps telling me he has to use heat to turf. I see you uys talking about using heat. I have NEVER had to use heat, and I think my turf jobs turn out very good. What's up with the heat???

Here's the white power ski when I did it.... using no heat to mold the turf

And here is the black boat that I didn't use any heat on...

heat makes the turf pliable and flexible. much easier to work with.

use DAP weldwood RED CAN <-important.

remove plastic and fill screw holes epoxy with filler or rtv silicone is fine

leave a peice of turf out in the sun and see how bendy it gets. it makes going around corners so much easier and is the only way you can turf a tray with no seams.

I agree with the Heat!!!!! Bought a cheapo gun at Northern Tool for like $17 and it has worked like a charm. Plus it is a handy tool to have a round the shop anyway.

I don't know how you could do it without heat. It would be really tough on the SXR, yours looks great. This is a close as I could get without seams. It turned out pretty good for my first turfing job. I filled the rail indentations and recesses with West system epoxy and 407 faring filler.

Where did you pick up the west system epoxy and filler?
