First of all how necessary is it to reinforce. i have been wave ridding for about a year and no problems...yet

I am kinda over doing projects on the ski i think i just want to ride it not tool around and f with it. so on a scale of 1-10/ 10 being dont ride untill it is fixed,,

second
so if i have to reinforce is there any way i can just 5200 the inside bond rail or some sort of easy on caulk stuff or do i have to do glass and cloth.

imo this is the most important mod of all cause ...with all the power you need a hull that can be beat.....so what i did was....from the side of the nose back to the firewall......the west systems filler for the bond line...and one layer of glass make sure you get as much excess resin out .....did you fill your foam fill holes?

If you are going to try a lot of jumping and barrel rolls you should reinforce the hull. It will hold up to more abuse if you do. You will need to use epoxy resin and your choice of fiberglass/ kevlar / carbon fiber. Fill the inner bond line with foam or resin first, then reinforce the sides.

ok

i have 5200 the holes and havent touched the bond line

so i guess i have to take out everything including that hard to put in pipe to acess all angles.

so you fill it let it dry and do a strip of glass over it from nose to bulkhead. sounds easy but i have taking the engine off its mounts and all connestions. is there a company that can do it.

can i do it without taking it all apart lazy man style i live in so cal and have more important things to do than f with my ski but if i have to.

its not that hard....you should take time to familerize yourself with the guts of your ski....this will help out alot when ******** starts breaking down.....you could pay someone but whats the fun in that.....its a hobby not a fashion show.....have a ski doesn't make it fun working it into a serious arm ripper is the fun and than being able to ride as hard as you want because you have confidence to fix whatever might break....find some local riders and ask questions...if you lived around here we would help you out....but if you want to buy me a plane ticket to cali im sure i could help you out.....:bigok:

ya

i am a jet ski mechanic and have my own buisness and all. i was hoping that the yamaha would stand up to beatings and that we dont have to make hull mods to make it work,. but also yamaha doesnt want or intend for us to be doing airs and subs so i guess this winter when it get to a chilly 65 i will take 2 weeks or so and slowly take it apart and bag everthing properly. sand it down and do the steps, is the blowsion kit ok i like to buy packages that include everything, i hate hunting down misc stuff. just to save a few bucks plus the company is good to us and one of the only ones out there surviving off standup guys. i say give them the cash.

so is it hard to allign the motor once its out and can i take out the engine with the pipe on kinda like the fp adds.

any how ill let you know when i am done and ill take some pics also.

also do i need to reinforce anything else in the engine compartment when im down there

Read this http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/18303&highlight=

and other posts about reinforcement. I think it all depends on where you ride and how hard you're gonna push it. i think way too many new riders jump in and reinforce long before they ever need to and end up with a very heavy hull. Look at all the hull weight threads if you think weight is not important.

IT isn't just the bond line, there are other areas such as the hood lip, pole mount, and if you are rolling, the rear side areas.

Search the carnage section and you'll find the weak areas.

i'd reccomened you do it now before you crack it and have to do it anyways. i cracked mine near the hoodlip and i cracked my hood learning barrel rolls out at pismo. i wasnt even going big. i wish i would have re-enforced 1st. now i gotta rush to fix it before the pismo surfslam on the 19th.
im kinda new to jetskiis and wasnt looking forward to it , but now that im doing it im glad. taking the motor out is alot easier than i expected. the hardest or most time consuming part is just prepping the hull beofore you start to lay the glass. go to your local Tap Plastics store , they have everything you need to re-enfore (except beer). for filling in the bond-line , just buy a jar of the Cabosil or micro ballons , either one will work. mix it with your resin until its like a paste and fill th bondline with it.

From what I have read, you do not need reinforcement to do tricks. You need reinforcement to learn how and to survive failed tricks. Barrel rolls wont hurt it but 3/4 rolls will mess it up.

That's what I read.

Yeah, I've decided that I'm just going to do the full barrell rolls and skip the 3/4 barrell rolls while I'm learning.:barrel::wink1:

You're a jet ski mechanic, and you don't know how to align the motor???
