it is basicly fiberglass. So you do the repairs with fiberglass. a lot of people on the board claim that you have to use epoxies but i have always used polyester. i have skis that i did major repairs to with polyester over 20 years ago that still own and have had no problemes with the repair.

there are also fiberglass fillers like "bondo" that are good for small repairs like a gouge and the are good for finishing larger mat/cloth repairs too.

after you are done with the body work use a polyester primer, like evercoat featherfill. it is really thick and so you can block out most inperfection.

most people just spray automotive paint when doing complete paint jobs. there are gelcoats too but they are mostly useful when trying to blend a repair into the factory gelcoat.

The hull is made of SMC not Fiberglass and I would use epoxies for the resin over polyester. Polyester resins do have issued bonding to SCM.

Evercoat makes an SMC resin designed specifically for repairing...you guessed it, SMC! Use it with typical fiberglass mat (for structural repair) or chopped strand (for filling gouges).
