SXR hull fittings turned to dust

so I was putting a new battery in my ski for daytona and it would not fit. so i got the bright idea to pull out the baterry tray to trim it. i got it out without an issue but i look in the hull and the inserts in the hull have turned to white power. :censored:

So where can I get hull inserts for an sxr?
do you just dril them out and epoxy them back in?

any info would be great.

So my ski is now scattered in the garage. Everything is out of the way. I think I'll call the local MX/jet ski shop to see if they have any inserts. Maybe the kawi dealer, but they prob wont have them local. Oh well. it is better to find it here then try to fix it on the beach. I found the pugs wire ends have a little corrosion inside as well, so i will be getting some new wire caps as well

on the SXR, there is just a plate, molded into the glass. it is not inserts. you could fill the holes, move your box over just a little, and redrill, and tap new holes ( we have done this for the 1100 conversions). "IF" you do this BE CARE FULL not to drill all the way through the bottom.

i would sure think you could just clean up your existing holes / threads though. try some toilet bowl cleaner, and wash out good. maybe chase the existing threads with a 6mm tap.

I would just run a bit larger tap, cut some new threads and replace the bolts with a little bigger ones. Has worked for me in the past.

After getting some light in there I think blowing out and hitting with a bottoming tap will work. There is a filler matterial bettwen the plate and the glass that is crumbling and looks like powder. I jumped to the wrong conclusion. How big is the plate? I've thought about putting zxi? battery tray in there instead of the 4lb stainless factory one.
