ok so i bought a 44 buckshot today and put it on and idle is wide open and it idles very high. i put the butterfly in. did i do it wrong? and now its like my starter is slipping? :crying:

idle will be lower when your ski in in the water and a load on the pump.

There is a 50/50 chance you put the butterfly valve in upside down...They are cut on the edges for the valve to seal correctly (at an angle) when closed all the way with no idle screw in or backed out and not touching. Do that and look through the bore and see if any light is coming through around the edges of the valve from being installed upside down. If the carb is a 44mm or 46mm and you used a new one from Mikuni, the stamped number on the valve should be facing down...
