How to torque down a flywheel???

How do you guys torque your flywheels down? What is the best way to hold it so the motor doesnt spin on you without damaging anything?

Ive heard of the rope trick in the cylinders but that sounds like it could bend a rod if too much pressure is applied.

how do you know when you are at the right torque spec or do you just say screw the torque spec and say a few braps on the impact is good enough?

Use the rope trick, and if its your 750 be sure you have a 750 bolt. My engine guy says Kawasaki upgraded the bolts for 750's and 800's so they are much stronger than the 650 bolts and can take around 90 pounds. Be sure and lap the flywheel also.

yeah i have 750 bolts. MSD says 65lb ft torque for kawi 650/750 so i should be good.
My book shows 72 for the 650, and Jetnetics says check it regularly, use oil on the threads. I found you can get a 3/8 socket through the blockoff plate and check it without removing the front cover.:Banane01:

The rope trick wont hurt the rod. It takes more abuse while rinning.

I always use the impact. Just a few blasts with it.
