I was reading about tighting the stock bolt and how it puts stress on the stock pole bracket.

what if you ad some nylon washers on each side?
and then tighten it up?
in theory you could get it tight enough, without bendind the uprights inward right?

( and YES I realise that this post is dripping with enuendo... Hell the whole thread is)

The way I see it is that if the stress on my stock bracket breaks it, then I'll absolutely HAVE to by an X-Metal bracket. "Yes I know I'm not spending any money on mods right now dearest, but this is a repair. Come and see what happened to my pole bracket because of the stress my impressively heroic manoeuvres place on my equipment. Why yes I do take it to the edge? I guess I am "quite a guy." The bedroom? Well, only for a few minutes - I have some wrenching to do..."

You see how it goes.... :27: Benefits all round

And since you got a XMW bracket you have no choice but to get a lowered hood to make it work! it must be done!!!

hey!

Im putting my boat together RIGHT NOW.

Ive got a roundnose bracket and pole.
but no pole spring.

Can I just tighten it down and will it stay?
or does it HAVE to have some type of spring in there?

anybody want to send me a spring via rocket mail?

I tried just tightening my bolt, but the end of the AC pole just bent in, so I went to the two bolt system and I could never keep it tight enough to hold the pole upright, and when I did it really flexed the pole mounting area and I got scared, and was too lazy to reinforce it.
So I went back to the stock bolt with a UMI spring, but that even sucks because I did the Slutty squarenose pole mod and cut 2 inches off of te bottom, now I have to heat and rebend the top of the spring so that it will fit into the pole, I just think I am screwed and destined to use the stock bolt and a spring.

Cut 2" off of the bottom of the pole, redrill the holes 2" higher up for the bolt and reinstall the piece of flat aluminum that runs across the front and put the pole back on the ski, but then the cavity that the spring sits in is 2" shorter causing the UMI spring not to fit in it so you have to modify it too, but that is kinda cool because you can put just a touch more bend right at the top and it helps tremendously.

We are talking about a Square Nose, correct ???

I'll have to look into it first thing in the morning.

if youre going with a stiff setup, make sure you reinforce under the bracket area first.

it has a couple of extra layers of glass on top, some underneath, and a larg aluminum backing plate.

it still makes me nervous though, it flexes the nose if I push the pole forward.

IM grinding the base of the pole so it doesnt push on the bracket and adding a limiting rope.

and while we're adding

You got the XMW bracket with dual breathers which wont work with your stocker....so a pole is needed too, chinpad, etc:banghead:

It does work with a stocker cause that's what I'm using but it does take some work to install it .You have to grind the pole mount and remove a bit of foam
