The retard who I bought my superjet from didn't think they needed to put any shims in the jet pump. I have been reading the manual and they say there should be shims on the pump stator where it bolt to the hull. My question is how do I know what shims/how many I need? Is it like shimming an engine?

I'm not sure how to answer question on how to verify if you have the proper pump alignment, but I do know that my 97' i bought recently had writing near those two bolts that said how much each side was shimmed. Maybe yours has that also?
if theres a gap shim it. if not, then it doesnt need shimming.
correct, but put reasonable pressure, by hand, toward the hull and against the pumpshoe seal. it helps to have a second person.

if you dont have shims you can use SS fender washers.
