How to remove starter/bendix on 90 SJ

Those SBT bendix's are not near the quality of and OEM one - you can get a mint OEM one for $50 shipped on here, check the WTB ads, or post your own.

Kawasaki/Yamaha interchange, so there are tons of them out there.

george when you twist the bendix does it push out? if the bendix isn't stuck the starter may be old and rusty and turning slow. ohm meter? you can check the pull of the starter. sounds like the bendix but I can be a weak battery or starter too.

its not lookin too hot in there either bro.

If you mean the whole bendix assembly, yeah, it flops around fine. I have tried to pull the gear itself out over the shaft towards the flywheel gear.
I' ll call you tomorrow and essplain what I mean.

if you spin it one way it will stay like it is, spin it the other way and a spring should tslightly move the smaller end gear out towards the flywheel teeth.

THAT is the mechanism you need to clean and lubricate.
