how to removal the pole spring!!

i am putting my new hood and bracket on, and I can not seem to get the pole off. I am trying to pull the bolt through the pole, but it seems the spring is putting tension on it. is this correct? How do you remove the pole from the spring and bolt? thanks to any help!

You'll need to unscrew the bolt all the way - it's threaded in the casting. It's a PITA, but keep working at it and it'll come free.

Or do a half roll and let your feet come out of the holds while inverted hang onto the pole and don't let go till it is only connected by the cables and wires.

another thing is to make sure the pole it locked straight up to take all tension off the bolt and spring so that it can slide out
