looking at my current stock setup. not much throw also after inspection

doing the mod takes more than moving the ball thingy closer to the nozzle.

anyone care to give me the 411.

step by step with pics.

ran across a few posts but nothing detailed enough and it seems like i should do the mod and do it right.

so what the best/popular way.

thanks

LOL....I feel honored to have my name next to this mod, but I didn't come up with it.

Look at where the ball joint post is threaded into the steering nozzle.
The goal is to move it closer to the center of the nozzle.
Find a good point and drill a hole of the same size as the original hole.
The original is threaded, but this new one does not need to be.
Just use the nut to tighten it.
I'll take a picture of my setup in a few minutes and post it for you.

I forgot!
i had to grind a little on the turn nozzle to clear the reduction nozzle and allow for full turn both ways. i use an aftermarket turn plate so that may have something to do with it.

cool

ive been mocking it up mentally and its more than just making the ball closer.

the way it is now the steering turned the steering cable wouldnt go that far.

im assuming i have to adjust the steering cable nut thing and make it go further

hmmmm you will have to realign the steering a bit once you move it in. your cable should have enough throw to allow you to do this cheap little mod.

the further out on the turn plate, the quicker the steering ratio. on my sn i couldn't run the outer most hole because the cable just wouldn't throw enough. the rn cables should have more throw so you may be able to use the outer most hole on the turn plate. i unhook my pump end and adjust the cable at the turnplate so i will hit the stopper both ways without binding. then i center the steering nozzle at the pump end.

Keep the turnplate and the nozzle separate.
For fastest turns, you want the cable closer to the center on the nozzle.
On the turnplate, you want it further away from the center.
However, with my XMW straight bars I cannot use the furthest hole as that would kink the cable. So I run the middle hole on them.
You have to realign the steering after you do all this.
There is enough room in the stock cable to do all this.

Here is a picture of my nozzle.

You can extend your cable with an M6 threaded rod and a threaded coupler.

Meatball: Because with the combination described, you get more throw and quicker throw than without it.
