To accelerate the drying time of the loctite when used in aluminum, one might consider an accelerant such as Henkel 7471 primer T. I've had good experience with Helicoils installed dry, but of course using the threadlocker on the fastener itself.

Proper way to do this so the helicoil threads dont get ripped out, we build up weld in the hole, harden it and drill it out in the mill. And completely re thread the hole. Never had any problems with our customers. Helicoil inserts can be quite the challenge!

That's great but not really much of an option for 95% of us. Helicoil work just fine. I have had helicoil in my cylinder for over 10 years and never had an issue.
