How to clearly tell the difference between an EME Q8 and an LTD Originated Clone

Since i'm partly responsible for the existence of the Q8 clones I thought it would be good if I post an easy way for buyers to tell the difference between a real one, one of my three, or one of many LTD/BillSmith clones. If its one of my three, the seller will be glad to tell you so no worries there. The LTD Clones had a problem when molding from the room getting to hot. The gelcoat lifted and molds ruined. On the nose of the fake 8s you can clearly see an extra bulge which is a sure sign its not an eme. If the piss poor quality of a Bill ski isn't enough of a sign, here you can tell right away. I never thought someone would try to pass one of these off as Erics. I wish I was never a part of this project, but unfortunately I was at the very beginning.

Also EME pole brackets are nice machined products with EME logo as well as the adjustment indicating numbers. You can compare to the first pic, uploaded by @smdubs and Thanks for starting this thread. I can't believe there are still so many of these fakes floating around. I saw one the other day that was "new" so not sure if it was left over or if they are still being built.

I guess I didn't understand why you posted this thread of copying another persons hull and being able to tell the difference between his/yours and the oem q8

Because someone was recently trying to sell a clone q8 hull as a real EME q8. Thankfully @smdubs was able to spot that it was in fact an LTD piece of junk and inform any potential buyers.

Well that makes sense. Definately a difference in quality levels between all three makers. Shame I tell ya. Lol

Chill out dude. He already admitted his involvement and states he regrets it, proving this so by starting this thread to help the members recognize the copies. You can't change the past, what more do you want?

Well that's a loaded question. A sack of hundys or fiddys will do. Warmer temteratures for sure and haters to shut the hell up. Pretty much to sum it all up a pot was calling the kettle black is how I was reading it.

this thread is suppose to help people spot fake EMEs, not a debate between you guys on who made what. The OP had the integrity to make the thread himself so lets keep this on topic and save others from buying a fake. :)

Thats clearly an eme in your pic. Not sure how ltd does it but im confident plates like that arent used. I just glassed the mounts in when i did it. The plates are the way to go. Great design. Eme also does alot you cant see that makes his hulls quality products over mine or others.

Oh I understand now. Does that mean Sam is done making fake ones? That's a bold statement.

This is funny a guy that makes fake skis tells you how to spot them and not let's see if we can identify them. It's an oxymoron. I had to reply. I had a q8 ripped piece of junk last year. Funny now we need to identify the good fake ripped ones to that of crappy ripped fake ones. I'm sure eme would find the irony here
