300/440/550 how to attach side braces?

not sure what these are called but im cutting some out at work today and want to put them on a new ski i got. the hull had a crack (that was filled by previous owner) along the side where the rails start so i want to add a brace to each side. Only thing is i dont know how exactly to attach them. are you guys running through bolts all the way through to the engine compartment with a nut and washer?

I am worried about stress cracks forming around the new holes i would have to drill.

heres a picture of a ski i found on the internet with the side brace that im making. just so we are all on the same page sense i dont know what they are called.

use stainless bolts with lock nuts and washer on the inside
