So I am working on my X2 trying to get it ready for the coast trip next weekend and I pulled my battery out to notice that I did not have any screws holding my battery box down. I found the screws in the bottom of my hull but the holes are all stripped and my battery box has a large chunk broken off. Can I tap the holes a size larger? or do I need to try and glue/glass an insert into each corner so that I can secure my battery?

Considering it will most likely sit on the trailer all weekend, I wouldn't worry about it.

Okay, try to tap em larger. You got nothing to lose.

You could do like what was done to my bilge bracket on the SJ, and just screw them down thru the hull, points and all coming out the bottom &*%#$@*%^:shocked::shocked::shocked::

No worries, even after you fix it you will break the battery box.

I would just take those screws, go down to lowes or whatever hardware store is local there and find one just a step or two bigger, not longer, just larger size and try that. I just noticed one was stripped out on mine too...

A buddy did that same thing today...seems to be working just fine.....but it has not been water tested yet....

The biggest problem is the crappy plastic battery boxes, I broke the back off 3 before I figured out how to make them work. Something to do with doing tail stabs into the sand.....:eek2:

Did this exact thing today on my 780 x2. Rode it for 4 hours and the new screws held great! Just take one screw to lowes and get the next size up. I would not 5200 it in there, as it is nice to be able to remove it, to get your gas tank out easily.
