I think it's 3 inches from the back and 3/4 inch from the sides (where it starts to curve up) and connect the dots.

Anybody else know?

I remember someone saying you use a brand new roll of duct tape but I dont know where you put it to cut out the D .Seems like all you need is the right size circle .I could measure my Blowsion one for ya:headbang:

I really don't think it matters (my opinion of course). The act of cutting the general D shape and reducing the length of your ride plate alone is going to significantly decrease straight-line stability (allowing you to have more user-control of the ski for freestyle manuevers). A 1/4" here or there is not going to matter too much.

I used the plastic top off a coffee can it is a hair over six inches and it has a dot directly in the center so I just used that to center it on the edge of the ride plate.

Doesn't even have to be a "D" cut. I was running a D cut on my stock plate, prety loose at high speed. So, I recently cut my concave Jet Dynamics plate. I just cut the concave section out square. Now I have the best of both worlds, good high speed tracking and in the surf the back sinks down.

I think the D cut came from a guy in Aulstralia that Joe (Kenny) met. Joe said there was a guy there that had a V cut, almost the entire length of the plate. Do some expairmenting, I'd love to hear how something like that works....... Lemme go find that stocker and a cut off wheel.:headbang:

Anyone ever try this on a blaster? I know they ride kinda nose high to begin with but just wondering if this would help at all.

Dude could you post a pic if you have time. As I was catching up on this thread I was thinking of doing the exact same thing with my extra JD concave.

Did you basically just cut the last 3 or 4 inches of the concave "V" out?

What type of cut off wheel will I need?

I don't bother to run a plate anymore. I love it. :cool2:

That would be some serious nose up action.

Your site looks nice. I just added it to bookmarks.

EDIT:Your site is great.

FYI I did this mod last year and liked it very much. However, I couldn't make the rear end break free like before. If I was trying to spin the ski around to do a fountain it simply wouldn't break free without going really fast. I thought I had forgot how to do it so I had a friend try and he had the same trouble. I put my stocker back on and the ski broke free easily again.

Now some of you may be too cool to do fountains, so this may not be an issue, but . . . . those of you who aren't and are thinking of doing this may want to consider this if you plan on modifying your only ride plate.
