I ran a -2in pole and -1in turn plate on my squarenose and it felt good, but I could go shorter (I'm 6'1). The XFT I order is -2in with a -1.5 steering system. The nice thing about going to a roundnose style pole is it is more straight and does not have that bend in it like the squarenose pole. I think the squares tray is a little longer as well so you stand a little further back.
you can use a matabo, bandsaw, jigsaw, circular saw, anything you have access too. just make sure its staight. that 2part epoxy works great. Not sure what size rivets they were. same as the old ones. and make sure you use stainless rivets!
No, use aluminum rivets w/aluminum shanks. If you use stainless or stainless shanks it'll be MUCH harder to drill out if you ever need to. Aluminum will hold up fine even in salt water; just get anodized aluminum rivets.
