Super Jet how much for sj?

I'm new to skis and looking at getting my first one. So I found a 91 sj for 1000 (asking 1200) with mods, high compression head, full coffeman exhaust, msd ignition, bored 2 over, and aftermarket ride plate, intake grate, and prop (not sure what kind though) And only 1 ride season on the mods. So my question is is this a good deal? Oh and no trailer.

actually SN prices seem to be going up
you used to be able to get a decent 650 SN for $800, now they are $1200 or more
that being said, a jetski is NOT a good investment
bend a rod and it is a pile of parts

Bend a rod? What rod? Like "drive shaft" rod? Sorry for the rookie questions lol

Engine rod, the part that connects the crank and piston, keep the water out of the engine and you should be fine.

$1000 is a good price around here, they usually start at $1200 but are commonly more.

SJ is the best stock platform for freestyle. I'd pick that up, start on it, play with it, get comfortable, do a few cheaper mods like footholds and some handling mods, then sell it in a year or two and get a RN...unless you absolutely fall in love with that SN.

Yah, ask for a compression test. Also look for major stress cracks in the engine compartment, around the handle pole base and especially along the bondline (rear bondline mostly). There is always some cracking in a hull, especially small cracks in the paint in stress areas but that is to be expected. You are looking for evidence of major cracking and many can be fixed if you are decent with fiberglass.

Also watch for bulging on the outside of the hull beside the tray. This is evidence water has leaked into the foam in the rear of the hull. Also can be fixed but it is a fair bit of time and effort and not what you want to deal with for a first ski.

Haha I know!! I also found 90 sj for 900 (asking 1000) that has been sitting behind his shop for 5yrs. Sucked up a rock and replaced impeller ect. Said needs a new battery and fresh gas and should start, who knows. What do y'all think about this ski?
thanks
