How much carbon/resin for tray

I have a leak between the driveshaft tube and the bulkhead of my superfreak so it looks like I`m going to be cutting the tray opened to fix it. I know there`s multiple people who have had to do this so I`m just trying to get an idea of how much epoxy resin and carbon cloth I should expect to need. I feel like 1qt of epoxy is too little and a gallon is excessive. How about cloth? @Sanoman how much cloth should I expect to need to put the tray back together?

How much of the tray are ya planning on opening? Probably need 2 square yards of 4 oz for several thin layers and then a yard of heavier (22 oz) carbon. You may have some other opinions on these amounts. But that should cover you.1/2 gal resin kit to go with the carbon.

You might find that is tricky to seal. The tube is probably a piece of pvc, and if it is epoxy won't stick to it. You might get it to seal for a while but as the hull flexes the epoxy will break loose and it will leak again. Really better off with something flexible like 5200, but that's tricky because you can't just put it on after the fact, you'd have to remove the tube and put the goo inside the joint between tube and hull.

My $.02.

I did this on a fiberglass Titan hull once but the tube was completely gone and had to be replaced so it was a little different.

@Sanoman has put together a bunch of these carbon Freak hulls I think so he might have better insight.

Find an adhesive like urethane or even a stiff setting RTV and use a piece of fiberglass inside the tube. You will need to clean and scuff the tube. Epoxy will stick to plastic so-so if its prepped well but a more flexible resin is better.

That was actually one of the thoughts that I originally had as I really wanted to avoid cutting the tray, but I wasn`t sure how well it would work. I`m up for giving it a try though. I have some urethane that I used to glue the hood liner in that should work well. I`m also thinking of slightly boring the end of the tube out and sliding a thin plastic or stainless bushing thats coated with urethane as a sleeve.

Well I don't think I have seen pics of another superfreak with a core between layers of carbon but this one seems to have it. Also a core in the bulkhead. Going to have to put a 1" driveshaft tube in cause the 3/4" tube used to rub the superjet driveshaft. Seems to be much worse with the couch driveshaft.
