How much air do I need?

I'm shaving my hood, I left the stock front air intake, debating how much more air intake I need to add? Would the stock front intake plus 1.5" intake from the steering area be enough?

I don't plan on running more then single 44 carb and a 650 maybe a 750 a few years from now.

i dont own an x2 but if you feel like your not getting enough air you can get more by opening up the air flow.


aka
more volume in the bay, air flow can be restricted to smaller tubes in the hood.
less volume in the bay your going to need larger tubes so air can flood in.

i would asume as a minimum the size of your size of your carb your running, but this may not be the case.. The way i measured mine was "thats enough"

I've never rode this ski before, just building it now. I shaved the hood, just debating how many and how big of air intakes I should have...

pm madscientist...i know he has pictures of his hood mod that allows next to no water into the hull and provides adequate air flow...he did mine and never had a drop of water infiltration

this is true, however, changes in the direction of the airflow coming through the hood into the engine bay will cause pressure drops due to velocity changes, thus you will definitely need at least a slightly larger diameter intake in the hood than the carb/carbs. while the drop may not be much, it will increase with flow and subsequently affect performance. if it were me i would at least go 1.5 times the total diameter of the hood intake vs the carb.
