How long before gas goes bad?

I run stabilizer every winter. Never had problems yet. Wonder what the reasoning is there.

I heard there's something in the Stabil that's not good for seals (some kind of alcohol?)

I've also heard that the oil in premixed gas acts as a stabilizer. This year I took last year's blaster premix and filled my 4-wheeler with it, it seemed to work fine.

If your gas ever smells bad, then definitely trash it.

when my skis were stolen the gas sat for 4+ yrs.

i took it out and ran it all in my lawn mower with out a hiccup

i've run skis on 1 year + gas no problems. any older then 2 years i usually put it in my car.

I usually get rid of it after a month of sitting. I'm sure you'll get a lot of different opinions on this.

Ha, well I very rarely have it sitting that long. Just if something wierd happens that I don't get to ride.

Fuel stores longer in higher volumes.
Stabilizers like Sta-Bil do actually work well.
I have used last seasons fuel many times with out issues.
If in doubt--dont waste it, just mix it 50/50 with fresh gas.
Might not try it in a heavily modded machine though.
