I only let people I know and trust or fellow riders ride mine. To the newbies I tell them my ski took me 6 months to build as long as all my extra money that doesn't go towards bills. I also tell them if they have never ridden a standup then they won't be able to ride mine. Overall though, I like to have other riders ride my ski so I can hear what they have to say about it. I don't have a problem at telling a stranger "NO". Also, to the kids I see playing on my ski

Just tell whoever is asking to ride your ski how much it is worth and that that will be the amount they owe you when they sink it

I know that people are always hungry for a free lunch. I work much harder than most people to have the things I have, yet they all wants to borrow my toys and my tools. They complain about how they are less fortunate when I know they are really just less motivated. I work 60+ hours a week at work or school, a number of people I know who think I'm stingy sometimes spend 60+ hours a week playing video games. Greedy lazy people have found that they can take advantage of hard working people by accusing those people of being selfish. Well, I don't bite.

I only let people I know ride my skis. I only let people at the lake that I have ridden with many times to ride my ski. I only let strangers ride my ski when we are trading ride time (My SJ for their SXR, B1, etc). All of my friends know the 1st ride is free, and after that, they need to chip in on gas, after a few rides of paying gas money, they need to be buying their own stuff. I will let people try my stuff if they legitimately want to get into the sport with money in hand (my ski not for sale but I didn't have the opportunity to try before I got into the sport so I like to make that available to others.) There is of course the exceptions of people who do me favors, and ride time is one way I use to repay that, but those are obviously not the free-ride kind of people.

Call me cynical but most people only care when the ride is free, and they don't care if they break your . For years I've let people ride my quads, got no gas money, specifically said "Don't take it in the mud" to spend the next day pressure washing 2" of mud and replacing brake pads on a quad I didn't ride. No help, no money, just being taken advantage of.

The answer is "Sorry, I don't let other people ride my skis".

You should also tell your friend that invited his 7 friends that he should not abuse the friendship, and feel comfortable telling those 7 people you didn't invite them and are not comfortable with the situation. Anyone who can't comprehend your situation, should not be on your ski anyway, because they don't appriciate the cost, the maintenance work or the liability you are facing. If they can't comprehend it, why should you trust them.

It's easy... Just say no.

My motto, If I know where you live you can play with my toys, if not, sorry aboutcha the answer is NO.
That way if THEY break something or are being stupid with the privileges I bestowed upon them and they don’t want to wright their wrongs by fixing it, they may wake up to find some property damage for about the same amount of the cost to fix what they broke.

Once i have enlisted the help of a pontoon boat, couldn't get it started and was about 1/2 mi out...

I'm not sure if this will work for a stand up. I'm built like a string bean. I use to race mx on a yfz450 that's right done out suspension motor work ect. And because I'm so light I use to say sorry my quad isn't setup for someone your weight. So no you can't ride it.

Wow. I thought it was only me who had to deal with this. We mostly ride in the surf so when the newbie falls and can't get back on I have to go save his stupid a,,.there went the relaxing day at the beach. The best was when I let my 19 year old nephew ride my blaster 2. He had ridden it the year before when he came down for spring break. Well he clearly forgot how to ride in the surf. Within 2 minutes he pitched himself into the bars. Looked cool from the beach. He rode for about ten more minutes then came in and told me he thinks he bent the bars. The bars on throttle side were about 6 " bent down. I said you think you bent the bars?lol


Most times I let close friends ride. They usually hurt themselves before they hurt my ski!

Im a softy and will most let most people ride my ski(as long as they are not hammerd). But It may be a different situation if I had 10k plus into a ski.

I have had some pretty generous offers to ride nice very expensive skis and turned it down because I knew I couldnt afford to make it right if something happened. And poop happens sometimes whether its your fault of not, especially in the surf. If its strictly a demo ski, I would consider riding that, but very carefully. Thats just me.

Yeah thats the thing I love about these skis, they keep me so entertained I dont even think about drinking, unlike on a boat where it is too tempting to get smashed, and there is nothing better than some cold beers after riding.

alcohol and skis dont mix in my opinion. and its always your hammered drunk friend of a friend that asks, 'can I got whip your ski around, brah?' after taking a beer bong from a boat canopy. your not killing yourself or anyone else on my ski. So thats a big, no! your drunk. the friend may not be happy with you, but the rest of the world just gave you a high five.
