How do you lock your ski?

Hi, I've been watching the post about stolen skis, and I was thinking about my shiny new (to me) Octane. It's not well protected, in an open barn on a large trailer, in front of 2 couches. How could I lock this thing? I don't see an easy way to chain it to the trailer. The trailer itself has a tongue lock.

What do you guys do?

BTW, no, I don't think that's an octane in the pic! That's my recently sold JS440. But the Octane sits in the same location on the trailer.

You can run a chain/bike lock through the intake grate to the trailer axle........or, you can station a german shepherd in your barn.......or, you can sit there with a .44 magnum or your weapon of choice!:bigok:

I dont usually lock my skis... but if I do I use a hitch lock to lock my trailer in my hitch so they cant just pull my hitch pin and take the trailer and all... $10 at harbor freight...

I then take a bike cable and a nice padlock and lock the ski to the trailer through the trailer strap bracket on the front.... wait... that was on my blasters... sjs dont have one... I will have to figure something else out this year...

I dont do this very often... just at hotels and stuff like that... campgrounds...

I thought of making some way of locking my hood down, but that is a little over the top prob.... so I forgot about it...

cable over drive shaft, around trailer frame and through the trailer wheel.

My ski also looks like ********, its part of my theft deterrent. :sneaky:

I've got two locks that lock the trailer to whatever is pulling it and then a cable lock for the skis that can fit through bow eyes and anything else I can think up. Makes me sleep better when they're not in my garage but if someone really wants them they are still as good as gone regardless of how they're locked.

i run mine around the shaft then around the trailer axle, i also keep a lock on the tongue of the trailer.... might be a little overkill but i dont like the idea of my ******** getting stolen
if you're not locking your wheels then someone can pull up, wrap your safety chains around their hitch and drive off without cutting any locks.

well i forgot to mention its the chain that i have on my grill that goes around a column on my porch and the grill, so if they can get that out without alerting me well then they have earned it lol

i use a 20' plastic coated cable around each drive shaft, around the axle/bunks, through the cross bars (to hold the poles down), through the XFT hand holds, pull it tight, lock it with a RR lock.

Those guys out looking for a "good deal" bring a torch and poof.. they are gone !

ooops,, My truck alarm has a sensor on the rear part of the frame and if theres much movement/banging it goes off...

My square nose sits on the trailer in my driveway with only a crappy lock connecting the trailer chain (which is attached by a bolt) to a cinder block.

Security at it's finest.

On a positive note, I put the battery tray and battery back in so that if it's stolen, it'll at least run for the thief.

I agree with all the others, if they want it bad enough... It is gone. I stress out about my skis for this reason from time to time.

A cable around the drive shaft is the only thing I can really think of. I did see these bow pin locks but heck they could just unbolt the bow pin holder from my trailer a lot easier then fooling with those locks. I have a lock on my trailer hitch coupler but thta is about it for me.

Years ago I did buy this lock that goes around the start/stop switch and has a place for a pad lock. Pretty niffty device. But... again, it someone wanted the ski, they could just take it and cut that lock off later with a torch. I never use it...

Best bet is to buy insurance and insurane for what it is worth to you!
