How do you guys stay in your footholds?

I've used REV's, XFT's, kiteboarding straps on a flatdeck, and now highroller holds. The kiteboarding straps worked the best and the REV's the worst. The straps would start cutting off the circulation to my feet after an hour or so but were certainly the most comfortable and kept my feet planted after multiple jumps. I'm currently jamming my feet into the highroller holds, with dive booties on, so tight that they start cutting off the circulation after a while as well. The booties even have grippy rubber tops and the traction on the bottom is tearing up the turf.

With the exception of the straps, every footholds I've used requires me to dig my feet back into the holds after every jump. Everyone seems to be worried about not being able to get out of footholds and I can't seem to stay in. I'm at a loss for what to do... I mean I could potentially use some kind of binding but that could get dangerous and difficult.

A solution is not to use the footholds at all times.
I lock my feet into the holds only for rolls and flips.

I use full tray length holds and they're semi loose. When there semi loose you learn to ride by applying out ward pressure to keep your self locked in, rather than kick wedging your feet in and hoping they stay

Exactly - when I want positive lockdown, I push outward. I learned that the hard way by falling out of the holds at the apex of a flip a couple times.

Do you have a kick pad molded into your turf...? With my XFT holds I molded up a pretty sweet kick pad and secured it in just the right spot to where my heals are locked in from scooting out the back but still can easily get my feet out with a little wiggle.....I am kinda shocked you didn't stick with your XFT's....

Here are the pics....

Your holds need to be formed with turf and padding so that they are the perfect fit for your foot. IMO I think the REV's are a step above the rest since they actually have ankle relief cut into the foothold. I can ride or hours and never come out of my holds. I wear jetpilot boots or slippery boots and have never had a problem. BUt if you want REALLY tight holds you need XFT holds they will lock your feet in like they have screws

I'm not so sure on the outward pressure. I understand the concept and why it helps but I'm unsure how to push outward while pulling up on the tray so I don't land on my back in a normal jump. I still have the XFT holds but they will have to be modified to fit the low sides on the stunt hull. Might be worth a shot... I tried to do a kick tail but it didn't come out exactly how I wanted.

I must not fully understand how to install padding to suit my feet. I glue all the padding in place, put my riding shoes on, place a piece of scrap turf on the top and bottom, and trim until it's comfortable. So far that process hasn't worked 4 out of 4 times. It always feels comfy in the shop but when I start landing jumps, there always seems to be an area that is too far from my foot or too close.

Yes the padding will help you to stay in the footholds especially if you pad the top and bottom. Also some people cutout a recessed shoe imprint in the foam before turfing for added security.

Are you usng the 25mm underpad..... This has really helped out my footing and turf work because you can shape and mold as you please..... This is what I did with mine before laying the turf over the top.

best way to do it get a 25mm padding and split in half, and put that on the top of your foothold, make sure that you have to kick it in to get lock, mine is so tighty that i got to kick it hard, and believe me,
you will get them out you need to dont worry
