Someone have experience with a Garmin Foretrex 201?
Is it really 100% water resistant and does it work accurate enough?
Thanks.

water resistant does not mean water proof, that typically means it can handle *some* splashing.

I just looked it up... that is badass!!!! I am going to buy one. And it says waterproof, not water resistant. But Jett, in his defense, 100% water resistant would translate to waterproof :smokin:

FYI

Most newer Garmin® GPS units are waterproof in accordance with IEC 60529 IPX7. IEC 60529 is a European system of test specification standards for classifying the degrees of protection provided by the enclosures of electrical equipment. An IPX7 designation means the GPS case can withstand accidental immersion in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. An IPX8 designation is for continuous underwater use.

The 201 is IPX7. Whether it can take being pounded is another question, although if you just do speed runs with it that shouldn't be an issue.

On my kawai 550 I put it in a ziplock bag full of air and then stuffed it in the fire extinguisher tube, I figured that way if it fell out there is a chance it will still be floating. On the sj, same thing the bag of air helps act like a cushion, i just whipped it under the hood and let 'er rip.
