how do u add a vent to a gas can

its a GAS TANK not a can

I punch a hole in the highest point with a needle. It is super small just enough to let pressure out and gas rarely spurts out. If you punch it too low sloshing fuel will spray out with the pressure.

EDIT: I was assuming he was talking about a can like he said
