How do I know if my abendix is bad

Please HELP!! How do I check if my starter abendix is bad. Its not the starter or the starter relay or the flywheel. I just need to know how to know if its bad or not.

If it's asticking it's abad. If it's not aengaging it's abad. Are you asure it's an abendix? What are the asymptoms? Could be an adifferent aproblem.

That's afreakin funny. The part in question is actually a "bendix", not "abendix".

I rebuild them if they start sticking. But I don't recommend anyone do it though. There are lots of little pieces that will F up your stator if they come out.

The gear should spin freely one direction, not the other, and the gear assembly should 'throw' forward easily and return easily and not stick anywhere. Other than that, testing it in a ski is the next way to test.

If ski is not starting, hear a whirring sound, could be a bad starter, corroded cables (not enough power to the starter, spins to slow to "throw" bendix gear to flywheel) or battery power could be low, causing same effect.

Just in case... Make sure your starter is hooked up properly. If you accidentally reversed the cables, the starter will spin backwards and the bendix will not pop out.
