how do i check compression of an uninstalled motor(550)

I have 550 piston port motor that i would like to sell. This motor has not been in a ski for a couple of years, but has ultra low hours on it .(10) When I posted it for sale, of course everybody wants compression #'s Problem is, I don't have a 550 hull to mount and crank it with. can I check compression w/o mounting it into a hull?
thanks, dbredleader

Maybe strap it down or something? My fear is that it will be unstable, or jump around ect. I'm going to hold open the throttle with wire, but my hands will be holding the hot cable.

just do it on the bench... get a friend to help you hold it if you are nervous its going to move around.

it doesnt move as much as you think.
