Super Jet hopping at half throttle

ive been riding this ski for about 2 months trying to dial in where to be in the tray and such. it has an ocean pro ride plate on it that has 4 fins. i have no idea what model maybe someone will know.

i am trying different shimming of the ride plate to help get the nose down. im 6ft tall and 275lbs. the 650 has plenty of power for the moment and as of now i ride with my feet all the way at the front of the tray and lean over the pole as much as i can. i know being a bigger rider has to do with it but hell i get tired of puttering around the lake. i want to go much much faster.

i think a -2 inch pole is in order and maybe a shorter turn plate as well. talking with my buddy today he thinks that the ride plate may be part of it as well. im going to re-shim it tomorrow and see how that works next time out. at some point i want to go with a pro tec plate, intake and nozzle.

i was hoping yall may have some other suggestions/ideas.

Everybody is different, but on the "hopping" at full throttle issue, it is called "porpoising" and all superjets do it. The way you eliminate it is by putting your weight farther forward in the tray. With a stock length pole, your front foot should be touching the dash. Rear foot should barely have any weight on it, when I ride at full throttle I am barely on the ball of my rear foot. (I am 6'2" 250lbs) With a stock pole it does feel weird however, since you basically have the pole digging into your waist and your upper body is over the hood.

A shorter pole will cure that problem most likely. You should put a stock roundnose pole on your ski (use the Hazard Bracket - for sale on this site). I run a -4.5" pole and LOVE IT, but for some it is just too short. Start with a 2" chop and go from there. It will make a huge difference.

FYI, a ride plate will help, but not cure the problem. You just have to learn to get your weight situated properly. For what its worth, I can ride a bone stock sn or rn and not have this problem. Once you get the weight distribution down, you can conquer any superjet at speed.

i ride with my right foot all the way up to the dash. i took out the fire extinguisher housing to get a few more inches. i dont put a lot of pressure on my left foot most of the time. i do catch myself doing that though. i do have a ride plate, ocean pro but i could not tell you what model. looks like its time to save up for a new pole. now to see if i should go for a RN pole like you suggested or get a -2in aluminum pole.

riding more will help. personaly i put my feet in the back on the tray and use my weight to counter balance the porpoising then transfer my weight forward. it all happens in a few seconds and im on a plane.
