Hood liner question

I made a hood liner out of one layer of 4oz (I think) mat. I had planned on a second/finishing layer but this first layer turned out much better than I'd expected. Here's some pics of how it's shaped. It's in a roundnose hood lined with 17oz biax so flexing should not be a huge issue. And it's gooped in with silica mix. Yes, it's gettin heavy so I don't want to add any more if I don't have to. Will this one layer be enough to take a big beating? Maybe a moderate beating?

its hard to say if it will be strong enough by just a pic.

or maby you only have empty cans laying around...

Are you mounting the fire extinguisher to that liner?
If so think about how much that weights and imagen how much stress thats going to be aplying when you get soem air and land flat... it shouldent ripe the entire liner out... but maby stress crack it a good bit???

Anyhow it looks great, and you know what your doing with the glass, so i'd say if you think it will hold, try it.. and if it cracks.. lookes like you know what to do to repair it..

Thanks. I went ahead and left good enough alone. The 5200 is setting around the air tubes at the moment.

sfl, it's about 32oz over stock :indifferent: so maybe like a CL case plus the bottle you're workin on

That's right. It's the evening of July 4th and I have another question :loser: So... to test air flow I have the hood sitting unlatched so it's raised maybe 1/2 or 3/4 inch in the back. At WOT there is a slight suction on the hood. I've added intakes but the hood still gets sucked down a bit at wot. I stick a wcf hood on and it doesn't seem to have as much of an issue.

This particular ski has the homemade liner, 5x 1.5" internal intakes (some are slightly obstructed do to being glued in too deep), two oversized and one stock-sized external intake all on the back and running dual 48's. On another ski w/wcf hood and dual 38's there does seem to be a little suction but I couldn't fit the stock hood on this one to test.

So is a little suction acceptable at wot or should I work on my intake situation?
