i was just check the local swell forcast round my area and found this one is about an hour away from me , man i think ill head to a beach with a smaller swell

9 feet? Am I reading it wrong? And is 9 feet really that big, we almost went last week up here in washington state and they were predicting 13 foot swells. Actually, I just looked and Tuesday is calling for 30ft swells...

well you just made mine look small lol mine is just under 4m round 12 feet i think , that is big for here most off the time we are lucky to get 6 foot swell comeing in

alot of places measure the back of the wave to determine wave size, not the face... It's the Hawaian standard for measuring waves...

Here in the states we call everything by the face...

Yep, they do not use Hawaian Wave heights, but a 3m day is not only almost a daily event, it's still well over my head at 6'-2 and would be fun as hell on a standup.:smokin:

Last weekend in my ride area (reef road, pump house - S/FL), magicseaweed.com was predicting 8FT'ers and it turned out to be 10-12FT on Saturday and 8FT on Sunday...While I've been out in bigger (14-16FT), last weekend was as big I care to comfortably ride in. Any bigger than that and the risk factor (and shape of wave) is simply too big. Some of my most memorable rides were with the smaller 3-5FT (with W wind)

I have been so anything "over 5FT wave" deprived for so long now I think "they" shrunk... :toothache:

I think I might head out to the beach, just to see these huge swells they're predicting. No way in hell I'm dumping my ski, little over my head, hah, but 30 feet, would be fun to watch, probably be some surfers out there...
