Hmmm Question about title in Tennessee

Was talking to a guy about buying his Sn superjet, now he is getting sketchy about the title and what not. Basically this should be a red flag not to buy right?

Ya don't need a title in tenn. Just a bill of sale. Also, you won't need a notory to stamp it.I would not call it a red flag,he may not know any better. If you can't find a bill of sale, just write it out on a sheet of paper with all the info about the ski(vin#,model, year, etc). Both of you sign it,get the old registration and go to the courthouse.Tenn tax is 9.5%,so if you can get him to write a smaller $$$ amount then what you paid for it,it will cost you less. Hit the water!

there is a boat certificate issued when you purchase the boat from the dealer( a formal bill of sale). if he doesn't have the certificate from the dealer or from the previous owner run the tags through your local dmv and see if they were reported stolen and whose name they are in. if everything checks out then jump on it.:bananapowerslide:

TN boats have a registration card the size of a credit card. See if he has that. They don't title boats. The registration and a bill of sale is all you should need. I'd call your county clerk, DMV, etc.. to see what they want you to have to get it registered in your name.
