High speed needle taper question

I ordered the OEM Mikuni cross-bar high speed needle (P/N BN44/167). The taper angle is different than the OEM needle, it is slightly steeper. And the very tip is smaller on the Yamaha needle.
The needle "seats" about halfway up on both, if you look close you can see a black line on the new cross bar from where it seated. But otherwise it fits correctly, length for the spring is the same, etc.

What difference will this make, if any?
The same turns out should be the same flow, but it will just be more sensitive to adjustment with the steeper taper?

I really want to move to a cross bar needle, and the common t-handle needle made by Jetworks is long and heavy and can vibrate out over time. I also prefer OEM parts, and the Mikuni screw lets me keep the choke.

Typical aftermarket crap! Since your running your ski it won’t matter because your going to adjust the position.

Theoretically “at equal turns” the flow will be different simply because the shape is different. But again your tuning

Well, I would say aftermarket crap but it's the genuine Mikuni t-handle from the parts fiche in the SBN manual. I don't have a non t-handle Mikuni needle to compare to, in order to determine if Yamaha made their own taper.

I do wish it was the same, though. Which is why I am slightly apprehensive to use it.

The non t-handle mikuni needle has the ring that the spring rides against. With this roll pin design the spring binds against the pin. I bet local mfg makes them for mikuni USA. I doubt the oem mikuni division would release a design like that. Anyways. It’s fine and will work fine since your running your screws

The fiche shows you run an extra washer at the top for that reason. But I see your point yes, it does not seem Japanese.

I'm leaning towards not using them.
